Wyldheart Beginner Guide

Get started in Caerwyn with the game's confirmed character creation, exploration, combat, and crafting mechanics. This guide focuses on the current demo and published developer instructions rather than speculative optimal builds.

  1. 1Select an ancestry and story background; backgrounds set up your character's story instead of locking you into a combat class.
  2. 2Explore The Slurper's Den and fight its mushroom enemies, switching between melee, ranged attacks, and magic.
  3. 3Spend skill points across the flexible trees to develop your preferred combat and adventuring abilities.
  4. 4To bind an unlocked skill or spell, exit the menu and hold T to open the skill wheel; spellcasting also requires the appropriate Grimoire.
  5. 5Visit Rivermere, speak with villagers, investigate rumors, and explore the surrounding Whisperwoods.
  6. 6Gather materials, craft equipment, cook party meals, and upgrade gear before continuing.

Wyldheart Classes and Skill Trees

Wyldheart has no fixed traditional classes: players develop their own roles through skill points and freely combined specializations. Explore the five confirmed skill-tree categories and the difference between a background and a combat build.

Adventuring

One of the five officially listed flexible skill-tree categories for shaping an adventurer.

Survival

A confirmed category alongside Adventuring, Dungeoneering, Weaponry, and magic.

Dungeoneering

A confirmed specialization category in the dungeon-focused progression system.

The Steam Early Access description names Sword, Axe, Mace, Bow, and Staff techniques as specializations.

Oldways of Magic

Wyldheart Ancestries

Compare the four playable ancestries in Wyldheart's October 2026 demo. The Steam description names their appearances, but does not provide complete ancestry stat modifiers needed for a trustworthy tier list.

Freefolk

One of the four playable ancestries, characterized as proud Freefolk in the official store description.

Mossling

A small-statured playable ancestry, introduced as the little Mosslings in the Steam listing.

Grimhorn

A towering playable ancestry included among the character-creation choices.

Stonefolk

A stout playable ancestry added to the updated Steam description and public demo lineup.

Story Backgrounds

Four ancestry choices can be combined with 19 story backgrounds and hundreds of customization options.

Wyldheart Co-op Guide

Learn how Wyldheart's one-to-four-player party system works, including drop-in/drop-out multiplayer, shared XP, and campaign saves. The developer's demo FAQ separates current multiplayer functionality from systems still in development.

Party Size

Play solo or with up to three friends for a maximum group size of four.

Drop-in/Drop-out

Friends can join or leave a campaign without requiring the entire group to be online together.

Shared XP

Demo XP is shared among currently online party members; offline characters do not yet receive asynchronous shared XP.

Difficulty Scaling

The developer says multiplayer scaling adds more enemies as party size increases rather than raising enemy hit points.

Campaign Saves

Cloud-shared saves are advertised, and the demo allows multiple campaigns for different friend groups.

Campaign Length

Full campaigns are designed around approximately 10 hours of story plus 15 hours of optional content.
